Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has described the role of the judiciary as vital to the success of the fight against corruption.

“It is necessary for the judicial officers to support the EFCC in the ongoing war against corruption, as the fight is not for the EFCC alone”, he said.

Magu made the call on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, while speaking at the Annual Merit Award ceremony held in honour of the Chief Judge at the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja.

According to him, every individual, especially the judiciary had a role to play if the anti-corruption war must succeed.

“I want to call on everybody to support what we are doing because, everybody, even Ozekhome (a renowned senior advocate that normally takes up cases against EFCC) has the responsibility to fight corruption” Magu added.

The EFCC boss appreciated the support of the upright and patriotic members of the bar and bench (including defence counsels), leading to the commission’s unbeaten prosecution and conviction record, while urging them to join the renewed campaign against corruption and money laundering.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of Honorable Justice Auta’s Selected Judgments and Rulings.

The event was graced by Justice Danladi Umar, Chairman, The Code of Conduct Tribunal; Justice Abdullahi Mustapha, a former Chief Judge of the Federal High Court and Justice Ishaq Bello, Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
