Many soldiers missing, 13 injured as Boko Haram attacks troops in northern Borno

Nigerian Army has said that some Boko Haram terrorists on Monday evening attacked troops location at Gashigar, border area with Niger Republic, northern Borno State, fatally injuring 13 soldiers in the process.

Army spokesperson, Col Sani Usman, said in a statement Tuesday that the troops did their best to defend the location but their efforts were in vain as the bloody encounter left 13 soldiers injured with some still missing in action.

Col. Usman stated further that the temporary setback made the troops to withdraw from the location.

He, however, saud the wounded soldiers have been evacuated and receiving treatment, while efforts are ongoing in search of those missing and clear the Boko Haram terrorists at the general area.
