While it may appear that Angelina Jolie has the world at her fingertips with a husband like Brad Pitt and six beautiful little children, she can’t help but admit that it’s a lot of hard work, too.
The Unbroken director opens up about married life in the Australian edition of Women’s Weekly, admitting she is “very happy to be married” and can’t help but adore the sensation of calling Brad “my husband,” but also reveals the ups and downs of two actors raising a large family.
“Brad and I work really hard at nurturing our family to make sure that everybody is alright and everyone stays connected,” Angelina tells the magazine. “Maintaining a marriage and raising kids is hard work.”
The A-list couple have been working on a new film–their first together since Mr. and Mrs. Smith–which is difficult because they always want at least one parent home with the kids.
“You have to really make sure that your work doesn’t get in the way,” Jolie added. “That you don’t do something that is going to put too much strain on your family.”
However, if mommy and daddy do have to work for a few days, Angie is comfortable knowing they have each other, describing the siblings–Shiloh, Knox, Vivienne, Maddox, Zahara and Pax–as a “tribe” who are “fiercely protective” of one another.
And when Pitt and Jolie are able to step away from working, they’re over the Hollywood parties and fancy get-togethers. They’d rather spend time with their kids.
“They’re six of the funniest people we have ever met in our lives,” Jolie explains. “We love being home and we love being around them because they are just so entertaining.”
Meanwhile, Angie has been busy promoting her new film Unbroken, though she hit a little bit of a bump in the road when she came down with adult chicken pox and was forced to miss a few scheduled appearances.
