The Chairman, Muslim Community of Oyo State (MUSCOYS), Ishaq Kunle Sanni, has urged Muslims in the state to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC’s) to enable them vote in the forthcoming general elections.

Sanni who made the call in a statement issued in Ibadan on Tuesday, also advised the electorate on the significance of the PVCs during the elections.

He said the voter card was the most important weapon in the hands of the electorate that could be used to vote into office any candidate of their choice.

Sanni said the only way Muslims in the State and Nigeria could vote for the candidates of their choice was to collect their PVC’s and to ensure their active participation in the polls.

He said reports of people not collection their PVCs were disturbing and urged those who had yet to collect the cards to endeavour to do so.

He said Muslims should regard participation in the electoral process as an act of worship as distancing oneself from it was un-Islamic.

The Chairman, however, warned Muslims and non Muslims alike, against thuggery and other forms of violence during the elections.

He also appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to make itself “available and responsive to the yearnings of the people as they come out to collect their PVCs”.

Sanni also reminded Politicians currently canvassing for votes to fulfill all their campaign promises when elected so that the electorate could have confidence in them.
