The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it has seized three petrol tankers allegedly transporting edible oil in Lagos.
In a thread on X on Wednesday, the agency said it seized the tankers around the Apapa area.
The agency attached a clip of an official saying they intercepted the trucks after a tip-off.
“A credible source told us that the same tanker or truck that they used to load vegetable oil has been used or is being used for petroleum products,” the official said.

“You know that this is a public health issue that requires NAFDAC immediate attention and that is why we immediately went to that area and we caught the truck being loaded and this is the reason we went there to apprehend them and bring those trucks here for further investigation.
“Investigation is ongoing and a lot of people have told us that it is actually for Wharf 302 Products and Beverages. You cannot have these two things in the same vehicle.
“It can’t bring in vegetable oil and then we are seeing tags of petrol on them. They need to know the danger inherent in mixing petroleum products, which we know are carcinogenic and not safe for human consumption, into this kind of practice.”
