Nasara Foundation has launched its branch office in Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State and also empowered 400 small scale business women in the local government.
In addition, the Foundation flagged-off free vision screening in public schools at Nagari Science College in Birnin Kebbi where it provided optical assistance to students and teachers of the school.
According to a press release issued by the Consultant to the Foundation, Segun Adebowale, eminent personalities that graced the event were led His Royal Highness, Sarkin Kabin Jega, Alhaji Muhmmadu Arzika Bawa Jega and included the Special Adviser, Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Nasiru Musa Jega and his wife, Hajiya Fatima Dan Musa.
Others were the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Bande, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Empowerment, Hon. Muhammad Hamidu Jarkuka, Majority Leader, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Faruku Aliyu Nasarawa, Director Finance, SUBEB, Alhaji Usman Abubakar and Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hon. Hayatu Bawa Jega.
Few days later, the Foundation provided optical assistance to students and teachers of Nagari Science College, Birnin Kebbi to enhance their reading abilities.
Eye tests were conducted on students and teachers with blurred vision to ascertain the capacity of eye glasses required to eliminate impediment to clear vision.
Speaking at the event , the Wife of Kebbi state Governor and Founder, Nasara Foundation, Her Excellency, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris explained that Nagari College was the launching pad of the Free Vision Screening to Public Schools organised by her foundation.
Hajiya Zainab added that opticians would go round all secondary schools in the state to examine students and teachers with eye sight challenges and provide them with necessary reading glasses.
She reaffirmed the commitment of her husband, Governor Nasir Idris, (Kauran Gwandu) to the provision of conducive learning environment as well as the necessary infrastructure, equipment and materials to schools towards attaining quality education.
Thereafter, the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor later led an awareness campaign road walk against Gender- based violence which took off from the Abdullahi Fodio Palace, Birnin Kebbi and ended at the Presidential Lodge.
While speaking at the Lodge, Hajiya Zainab expressed unhappiness about reported cases of rape of small girls and adult women, adding that both genders should work together to eliminate such behavior in the society.
