Navy hands over 11 suspected oil thieves, barge to EFCC

The Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB), Bonny Naval base, Port Harcourt has handed over 11 suspected oil thieves and a metal barge (Henry 2) loaded with about 230 metric tons of substance suspected to be crude oil to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for further investigation and prosecution.

The suspects who were arrested at the Bonny water ways on April 22, 2014. They include Daniel Ojokparoghene, Henry Mangibo, John Atobere, Ben Lawson, God’s Strength Samson and Jacob Abagidi. Others are Tamunoi Yawuna Genesis, David Ben, Frank James, Gabriel Lucky and Danlami Awuta

The Commanding Officer, Navy Captain, H.P.Dogara, represented the Nigeria Navy at the hand over ceremony, while a Senior Detective Superintendent, Chinenu Ogbu represented the EFCC.

Ogbu assured that the commission will do its best to ensure thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of the suspects if found culpable.
