The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended Bristow’s operation of the Sikorsky helicopter type.

Director-general of NCAA, Muhtar Usman, who disclosed this on Thursday during an interactive session with reporters, said the suspension was to enable the agency carry out a full-scale audit on Bristow’s operations, with particular emphasis on its Sikorsky S-76C type.

The suspension comes a day after a Bristow helicopter with 11 persons on board crashed into the ocean, but with no fatality recorded.

The Wednesday accident occurred barely five months after a similar accident claimed six of the 12 people on board.
