Igbo settlers in Lagos have pledged to queue behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, Akinwumi Ambode, come April 11.
Also, the Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Tajudeen Agbede, has directed members of the union in the state to vote for Ambode during the April 11 governorship and state House of Assembly elections.
Agbede gave the directive on Thursday while addressing branch officers from all the 120 branches of the union in Lagos during their monthly meeting at their Abule Egba office.
The Eze Ndigbo of Ikeja, I.C. Dimgba, on Thursday, said his kinsmen had no reason not to vote for APC, the ruling party that “has allowed their businesses to thrive.”
Dimgba, who spoke at an interactive session with reporters in Ikeja on Thursday, stressed that Igbo people in Lagos would leave no stone unturned to ensure that the APC retain the governorship seat in the state.
Dimgba said, “The APC is a movement for change and that change is not only in exchange of baton between the ruling party and the opposition but change in the old ways of doing government business.
“We also live in Lagos and we have seen what the incumbent government has been able to do right from the time of Bola Tinubu. The incumbent has maintained a track record and we want the trend to continue. What is the point in changing a performing party?
“Every right-thinking Igbo man should come on board and join the moving the train. Nobody should sit on the fence. We must all come out en masse on April 11 and vote for APC.”
