Former US President Donald Trump posted his mugshot on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

On Thursday, Trump became the first former US president to have a mugshot, after being booked in Georgia on charges of plotting to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.

He was also booked on a dozen felony counts.

Trump paid a bail bond of $200,000 for his release from the Fulton County jail as he awaits trial.

Soon after the mugshot was made public by Georgia officials, Trump took to X to share the photo himself with the words: “Election interference, never surrender”.

The post marks Trump’s first on the platform in more than two years.

The politician’s X account was banned following the January 6, 2021 invasion of the US Capitol, the seat of congress.

Elon Musk restored Trump’s account last year soon after he acquired X.

Trump, who is running for president in 2024, also shared the mugshot on his campaign website alongside an appeal for donations.

He said he had been “arrested despite having committed no crime”.
