Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said that they will stick with Frenchman Paul Le Guen, whom they had an agreement with some months ago, for the Eagles coaching role.

This follows the Eagles grouping with Zambia, Algeria and Cameroon in the 2018 World Cup qualifying series.

The Super Eagles have been without a permanent coach since the resignation of Sunday Oliseh.

Reports say the former Cameroon coach was recommended to the NFF by former Arsenal Vice-Chairman David Dein. The tactician is expected to earn a salary of around €44,000.

“We have been receiving applications from several coaches for the Eagles job but all I can tell you is that there won’t be a Serbian coach for the team.

“Le Guen is most likely to be hired because of the teams we got in the World Cup draw. No Serbian coach for the team,” a source told Completesportsnigeria.com.

The source also said the interim coach of the team, Salisu Yusuf will remain but as an assistant to Le Guen.
