A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Niger State, Umar Nasko, defected to the All Progressives Congress, on Thursday.
Nasko who contested under the PDP in 2015 and 2019 governorship elections lost to the incumbent governor, Abubakar Bello.
Nasko who joined the APC in Minna, revealed he decided to join the APC after he was contacted by the governorship candidate, Umar Bago.
He said Bago called on him to join hands in working towards the growth and development of the state.
“My decamping to the APC is out of conviction after I was approached by the progressives led by the APC governorship candidate, Umar Bago,” he said.
“This is a turning point for the progressives in Niger state and I promise to work maximally to ensure that APC is victorious at the Polls on the 18th of March,” he said.
Nasko called on his supporters to ensure that they should work for the progressive of the APC.
“I therefore call on all my supporters and admirers across the state to join the fold by working assiduously to ensure the success and victory of the APC come 18th March, 2023 in the state,” he said.
Bago, who received Nasko into the party described him as an asset to the party.
“We share the same vision for the development of Niger state and surely, Nasko will be part of my government if elected.
“Nasko is a courageous, determined young man, very intelligent with wealth of experience who had the capacity to be part of the team to move Niger state forward,” he said.
