Nigeria oil workers suspend one-week old strike

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG have suspended their one-week-old strike.

The strike was called off after a meeting with the Federal Government by the oil workers’ union, which ended in the earl hours of Wednesday.

The meeting, which was reported to have ended at about1am on Wednesday, was attended by the Ministers of State for Petroleum and Labour and Employment, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu and/’Dr. Chris Ngige; the leadership of the oil workers’ unions; and representatives of International Oil Companies.
