The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mattew Hassan kukah has said that Nigerians should not to expect Buhari’s government to perform ‘wonders.’

The cleric said that same Nigerians expecting the President-elect to transform the country overnight will still condemn his style of leadership.

Kukah, who stated this at the weekened while delivering a convocation lecture at the Ebonyi State University Abakaliki, insisted that Nigerians would certainly look for a redeemer by the time they began to see the opposite of their expectation from Buhari’s government adding that Nigerians have a unique way of despising any government in power.

“The same Nigerians yearning for change of government which they have got will certainly say when Jonathan was the President people were not pushed to prison and people had freedom of speech.

“So right from the military to civilian regimes, Nigerians are known for despising any president in power but same Nigerians will turn around to like the person when he leaves office.

“They did it to Obasanjo, they have done it to Jonathan. So, Buhari will not be an exception.

“Now, all their hopes have been tied to Buhari and he has said after his declaration as winner of the presidential poll that he is not a magician and I think that is a warning,” Kukah stated.

He maintained that the All Progressives Congress (APC) which produced Gen. Buhari does not have track record.

“The APC does not have a track record. It is a gathering of takers and there is no reason why it could not end up like the PDP from where it has drawn most of its leaders today,” the Bishop said.
