The Nigeria Labour Congress has fixed election for the next leadership of the congress for March 12, 2015.

Election for the next President of the NLC was disrupted at the 11th National Delegates Conference of the union over disagreement involving alleged irregularities discovered in the ballot booklets produced for the election last week.

The decision of the NLC was announced by the outgoing President, Abdulwahed Omar, after a meeting of the National Executive Committee and another meeting of the NEC and the major contestants for the key positions in NLC in Abuja on Wednesday.

The meeting of the NEC, which commenced by 1pm, ended by 3.4pm for the second meeting between the NEC and the contestant to commence. It came to an end at 6.37pm.

In attendance at the meeting were the top leaders of the NLC, the pioneer President of the Congress, Hassan Sunmonu; a former President, Ali Chiroma; the Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, who is also a former President of the Congress; the pioneer General Secretary, Aliyu Dangiwa; and others.

Omar said the disagreements involving the election were amicably resolved after deliberations with the elders.
