NSE, traded fund providers partner to deepen capital marketing

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in partnership with Exchange Traded Funds providers (Vetiva Fund Managers Limited, Lotus Capital Limited and ABSA Capital, South Africa) on Thursday organized a one-day Investment Management seminar tagged “Portfolio Construction – Beta Strategies” for stockbrokers, portfolio managers, insurance companies, pension funds administrators, institutional investors and some selected staff of The Exchange.

The seminar was in line with NSE mandate to broaden and deepen the Nigerian capital markets.

Speaking on the seminar, Head, Product Management Department of The Exchange, Dipo Omotoso explained that the training was designed to enlightened stakeholders on key areas such as using beta strategies in Portfolio Construction and the benefits of ETFs as an asset allocation tool.

“The seminar also emphasizes the Exchange’s commitment to facilitate capacity building for market practitioners” he added.

Participants at the one-day seminar were taken through topics such as “Passive Investment & Portfolio Benchmarking; Alpha Vs. Beta Strategies; Use of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and their benefits as alternative investment vehicles in portfolio construction; ETF Regulatory Framework in Nigeria and Investor Protection Guidelines.
