The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II has said there a need to strengthen cultural and economic ties between Bini Kingdom and Japan for improved economic activities in Edo.
The Oba who spoke on Tuesday when the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Sadaubu Kusaoke, visited Ewuare in his palace in Benin, said strong ties would fast-track social cultural and economic opportunities for the people of the state.
According to him, a closer relationship between Bini people and Japan will encourage investors in the kingdom.
Ewuare said the palace was working hard to reinvent Bini traditional and cultural artefacts which existed before the colonial era.
He requested the Japanese government to establish businesses that would further strengthen ties between Bini people and Japanese.
The Oba called for “a twining of cities between Benin and Japan”.
Earlier, Kusaoke said he was at the palace to encourage and give support to the people of the state in businesses.
He reiterated the need to strengthen relationship with the palace to ensure economic development of the state.
