Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has taken his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to court to redress the anomaly that ensued during the Lagos state governorship primary that took place on 8 December.

It would be recalled that Jimi Agbaje was named the party’s governorship candidate which Obanikoro described as ‘sham’ after the total number of votes cast, 863, was higher than the total number of accredited delegates, 806.

“I urge all our teeming supporters to remain steadfast. We will pursue this to a logical conclusion and justice will be done!” he wrote on his Twitter page today.

He then stated that he has taken the matter to the proper authority. “In the light of this development, we have proceeded to the Federal High Court, Abuja to seek redress.

Obanikoro explained that his decision to go to court follows the inaction by his party. “The 48 hours timeline stipulated by the PDP Electoral Guideline to address our appeal has elapsed without a response from the party.”
