Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday told Nigerians to repeat the same pattern of voting that gave General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory on March 28 in the coming governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Obasanjo, who spoke while responding to questions by journalists during his visit to Itoku market in Abeokuta Ogun State said that “Since I came back from Abuja, I have not been here to say hello to you. But, it occurred to me that I can do it during this Easter period and that is why I have come. How is market and hope you are all fairing well?”

While the market men and women were chanting ‘Sai Baba Obasanjo, Sai Buhari, Sai Amosun,’ the former president refused to react on any political issue but merely advised the market men and women to repeat the action of March 28 by next election in the state.

“They should do exactly what they did last Saturday. This is my community. As a member of the community, I want to know what’s going on and what’s happening in the community,” Obasanjo said.

The former president had fallen out with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and President Goodluck Jonathan since 2012, but the running battle deteroriated in December 2013 when Obasanjo wrote a letter that was published in newspapers.

Titled ‘Before It is Too Late’, Obasanjo chronicled Jonathan’s ‘sins’ to include, corruption, incompetence, betrayal and alleged sponsorship of a killer squad, with over a thousand eminent Nigerians as targets.’

While Jonathan responded to the letter with no less pungent language, the crisis eventually consumed PDP with the election of Buhari as the president-elect from the opposition APC.

With the former leader calling on the people to repeat what they did on March 28, it can only be construed to be a declaration of support for the opposition against his former party, the PDP.
