A front line gubernatorial aspirant in Ogun State, Kolawole Lawal, has lambasted members of the Ogun West Consultative Forum (OWCOF), for allegedly picking Senator Olamilekan Adeola as its endorsed candidate for the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state.
Lawal, who is also the incumbent Ogun State Commissioner for Forestry, said he was surprised that members of the group could embark on a fraudulent and deceptive exercise to achieve their objective, stressing that he never attended any screening exercise before any member of OWCOF.
“To put the records straight, I was invited to an interactive session by the Ogun West Consultative Forum on Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Yewa Frontier Hotel, Ilaro.
“I attended the meeting with some of my supporters where I intimated the OWCOF of my intention to run for the Ogun State governorship seat in 2019.
“During the 2-hour interactive session, I unfolded my AHEAD (Agriculture, Health, Education, Accountability, Development), agenda before all and sundry”.
“I was surprised to read in the newspapers that the forum picked Senator Adeola as its consensus aspirant of Ogun West ahead of five other aspirants in the zone.
“At what stage did an interactive session graduate into an interview or screening during which a winner will emerge? Who are the other aspirants that were screened with Senator Adeola before he was chosen by OWCOF?
“Who and who monitored the screening and what were the scores obtained by each aspirant?”.
Lawal said that the purported endorsement of Senator Adeola by OWCOF is a propaganda that cannot stand the test of time as it is deceitful, mischievous and based on a wrong foundation.
“When I appeared before the forum during the interactive session, what I was made to understand was that the group wanted to meet with each aspirant in Ogun West for the purpose of identification.
“I appeared before the forum with the best of intentions for Ogun West. The forum should not use my name to sponsor, formalize or validate any selfish and dubious agenda that will divide Ogun West.
“What l, Kolawole Lawal Mobolorunduro, stand for is Justice, Equity, Fairness and Level playing field in 2019 governorship race,” he said.
