The Chairman, Ijebu East local government area of Ogun State, Wale Adedayo, has distance himself from the decision of his colleagues that visited Governor Dapo Abiodun to apologize over his claim of alleged non-release of allocations due to the local government in the state.
Adedayo, who said this while reacting to the decision of his colleagues to beg Governor Dapo Abiodun over the controversial letter written by Adedayo.
In a viral video, that went viral on social media, about 18 out of the 29 local government chairmen are seen prostrating to beg the governor over the petitions by Adedayo, who accused the governor of non-release of their funds.
Speaking in a telephone conversation with Vanguard in Abeokuta Adedayo described the action of his colleagues as propaganda.
Adedayo asked our Correspondent, “have you seen any letter of retraction from the writer of the letter or did you any video where the writer of the letter is making any retraction? So leave them with their propaganda.
He said, he was not in support of their action.
It would be recalled that Adedayo, accused the governor of withholding the LGs’ allocations.
He lamented that LG Chairmen had been unable to execute projects in the last two years, and asked former Governor Olusegun Osoba to urgently wade in, and convince Abiodun to allow “the statutory Federal Allocation to Local Governments in Ogun State to reach each of them as envisaged by the 1999 Constitution.
Adedayo also petitioned the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), calling for the investigation of the governor over alleged diversion of local government funds.
According to him, Abiodun has not paid a dime to Local government accounts as Federal allocation in the last two years.
Adedayo in the petition, dated 28th August, 2023 dated also accused the governor of denying the local government chairmen of the Ecological fund and other entitlements due to them.
