A five-storey structure, reportedly owned by the Love World (Christ Embassy Church) crusade ground, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Asese, has been sealed, by the Ogun State Building Production Management Authority (OGBPMA), towards ensuring security of lives and property after a partial collapse occurred.
The sealing, was effected by the Acting General Manager of the Authority, Engr. Olakunle Olaniran after a joint inspection by Officers of the Ogun State Building Production Management Authority (OGBPMA) and Ogun State Planning Development Permits Authority (OGPDPA), to find out the cause of the occurrence, and institute steps to forestall further building collapse.
Speaking about the incident, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL. Olatunji Odunlami noted that it was unfortunate but avoidable, appealing to citizens of the State to always obtain necessary permits before embarking on any construction work, and also ensure the use of professionals to erect their structures.
In his remarks, Engr. Olaniran, said enforcement notices had been served, and the structure cordoned off with caution tape to restrict movement around the building.
He said the building contravened both the planning and building regulations of the State, and insisted that works would not continue at the site until the owner perfects documentation required by the Ministry.
