A new Resident Electoral Commissioner has been appointed for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State. He is Sam Olumekun.
Olumekun assumed duty on Wednesday at the state headquarters of the commission in Yaba, following the retirement from service by Akin Orebiyi, the immediate past resident electoral commissioner.
The commission has successively been led by two Administrative Secretaries — Clement Oha and Dr Mudashiru Mustapha.
Femi Akinbiyi, the Head of Public Affairs Department at the commission, confirmed that the new commissioner had reported for duty.
He said Olumekun, while addressing staff members, sought their cooperation and that of stakeholders for the success of the electoral body’s operations.
Olumekun is the immediate past INEC commissioner in Edo.
