The Speaker of Ondo state, Jumoke Akindele has been impeached. Akindele along with her deputy, Fatai Olotu, were sacked on Tuesday by 18 members.
Elected to replace them are Iroju Ogundeji and Ayo Arowole as speaker and deputy. Ogundeji represents Odigbo constituency, from Ondo South, while Arowole represents Owo.
Both are PDP members like Akindele.
Akindele, a lawyer represents Okitipupa in the assembly. She is also a lawyer before venturing into politics in 2006.
She was first elected speaker in May 2014 and re-elected by the 8th Assembly last year and she is believed to be a close associate of the governor, Olusegun Mimiko.
The House has 26 members.
