Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will be the guest speaker at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa’s (ECA) annual Adebayo Adedeji Lecture Series during the second African Development Week in Dakar, Senegal.

The commission’s Communications Section, in a statement on Monday in Senegal, said that the conference, which would commence on March 28, has as its theme as “Growth, Inequality and Unemployment”.

Prof Osinbajo’s lecture, which will be delivered on March 27 at the Centre International De Conférences Abdou Diouf, is entitled “Repositioning Nigeria in a Changing World”.

Acting Executive Secretary, Abdalla Hamdok, said the commission was honoured that Osinbajo was the guest speaker.

“We are honoured and excited that the Vice President will be the guest speaker of the Adedeji lecture series this year to share with us how his government is repositioning Nigeria in the fast-changing world we live in today.”

The ECA inaugurated the Annual Adebayo Adedeji Lecture series in March 2014 in Abuja, during the seventh Joint Annual Meetings of the AU Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance and ECA Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

The lecture series honour and recognise the intellectual contributions to development, service to Africa and humanity by Prof. Adebayo Adedeji, an unrepentant believer in African integration and development.

Adedeji has had a distinguished academic, political and diplomatic career in service to Africa.

Each year, the lecture series features prominent scholars and personalities who have, in one way or another, contributed to the development of Africa.

The ECA will, at the event, launch the Africa scorecard on domestic financing for health and the human rights impact assessment of the continental free trade area in Africa (CFTA)
