Governor of Bayelsa State and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Reconciliation Committee, Henry Seriake Dickson, on Friday had a meeting with the Chairman PDP Board of Trustees, Alhaji Walid Jibrin in Abuja.
Although they both declined interview with journalists, sources said that the meeting of the two PDP stalwarts was in connection with the peace and reconciliation effort currently embarked upon by the governor.
A source who is close to the developments in the party, hinted that except for Jibrin and Dickson, no other person was allowed during the visit.
“The meeting was held behind closed-doors. I cannot confirm what was discussed, since the meeting was just about Jibrin and his visitor. But it should be part of the process to find lasting peace in the PDP”, the source stated.
The source who preferred to remain anonymous, however added that only the two parties could speak on the matter, noting that they would speak to the public at the appropriate time.
Dickson and members of his Committee had recently traversed the country, meeting with leaders of the PDP in their search for peace, including ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and former Head of State, Gen Ibrahim Babangida.
