The National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday declared the governorship primaries that produced Gbenga Isiaka as the party’s governorship candidate in Ogun State in next year’s general elections as ‘null and void’.
According to a statement signed by the party’s national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, the primary was unauthorized by the party’s leadership.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the NWC hereby states that it did not authorize any governorship primary in Ogun State. Consequently, any such exercise held in Ogun state is hereby declared null and void and of no effect.”
Metuh said a new date for the primary would be announced later.
