PDP leads in Edo

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has released the result of 10 local government areas of Edo state for the national assembly election held last Saturday.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, won eight out of the ten local government areas released so far.

The results announced by collation officers from each of the local government areas before the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini, the state Collation Officer, Vice Chancellor of University of Benin, Prof. Faraday Orumwense and security chiefs in the state, saw PDP scored 19, 440 votes to beat APC that scored 6,151.

PDP scored a total of 12, 003 votes in Esan Central while APC polled a total of 7,688 votes.

The same was at Egor where PDP scored 21, 707 votes, while APC polled total of 18, 135 votes.

At Esan West, PDP scored 19, 600 votes, while APC scored 9, 578 votes.

PDP polled 10, 365 votes at Etsako Central against APC’s 8, 152 votes.

Etsako East PDP won by 13, 071 votes while APC secured 9, 781 votes.

Other areas won by PDP include Igueben with 6, 854 votes, while APC scored total of 5,692 votes.

PDP also recorded a landslide victory at Ikpoba Okha local government, the stronghold of the commissioner of Works, Osarodion Ogie with 31, 373 votes against APC’s 18, 527 votes.

Meanwhile , APC won Etsako West local government area overwhelmingly at Etsako West local government area and Owan East where it polled 12, 121 votes.
