Former governor of Anambra State and Chairman, Security and Exchange Commission, Nigeria, Dr. Peter Obi, is to address the February 2016 edition of Wesley Chapel’s quarterly ‘Words of Wisdom‘ (WoW) life changing series.
The event, which will hold on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Wesley Chapel’s premises, is part of efforts to bridge the yawning mentorship gap in the society and it is expected to bring young professionals, entrepreneurs and undergraduates together to listen to Obi as he shares his life, entrepreneurial and political experiences over the years.
A successful entrepreneur before joining politics, Peter Obi was Chairman of Next International Nigeria Ltd, Chairman and Director of defunct Guardian Express Mortgage Bank Ltd, Guardian Express Bank Plc, and Future View Securities Ltd.
He was also a director on the board of Paymaster Nigeria Ltd, Chams Nigeria Ltd, Data Corp Ltd and Card Centre Ltd. He was also the Chairman of Fidelity Bank Plc.
Previous editions of WoW had eminent personalities such as Ben Akabueze, former Commissioner for Economic and Budget Planning, Lagos State, Tunde Lemo, former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Sir Remi Omotosho, Chairman, Standard Chartered Bank and Sir Anthony Adegbite, Knight of John Wesley, Methodist Church Nigeria, as guest speakers.
Taking inspiration from the book of Proverbs and the story of Solomon in the Holy Bible, the Words of Wisdom programme enlists eminent citizens to share their personal and career experiences over the years with the younger generation with the aim of inspiring them to achieve greatness in life.
Sir Demola Aladekomo, Chairman, SmartCity Resorts Plc and Convener of the Words of Wisdom series said, “The programme provides a platform for young people to learn from the life experiences of senior executives, administrators, and entrepreneurs, thereby ensuring that they make the right choices in life.
“It equally provides a platform for the business leaders to encourage the next generation of leaders to take up the gauntlet and venture into business, remain relevant and surmount the challenges that lies ahead in life“.
“More importantly,” he said, “our guest speaker will use the platform to communicate the need for the young ones to put their trust in God and not to compromise their faith whenever they find themselves in difficulty“.
