The All Progressives Congress, APC on Thursday inaugurated a 49 member campaign council for its candidate in the forth coming Ondo State governorship election, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN).
National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun while inaugurating the team, said the election at hand was a very difficult one, noting that but for the challenges which arose from the party’s primaries, the state was ripe to be plucked by the APC because the people were tired of the misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Chief John Oyegun said, “I call it challenging because of the special circumstances that has brought us to this point today. Otherwise, Ondo state is ripe to be taken and added to the APC progressive family.
“The challenge I am passing on to you today is the obvious challenge that arose at the primary. But I trust that you and your team will overcome those difficulties and deliver Ondo to the APC family.”
The 49 man committee headed by the Plateau state governor Simon Lalong also has nine governors and nine Ministers as well as members of the National Assembly, former governors, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yusuf Lasun and others as members.
Lalong promised on behalf of members of the committee to do a thorough job of reconciling party members and marketing its candidate to Ondo people.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the inauguration, The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the governorship election, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), said he was not threatened by the defection of Olushola Oke, to the Alliance for Democracy.
According to him, he was not threatened because the “dead does not threaten the living.”
