Former chairman of National Population Commission (NPC) and ex-managing director of Nigerian Breweries, Festus Odimegwu, has endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, saying that the ex-general was the best candidate in the race to Aso Rock.

In an article he authored, Odimegwu said he believed Buhari had the necessary experience to combat and overcome the security, economic and political challenges the country currently faced.

“Countries without the likes of Buhari in power ultimately perishes. There are really no other options to greatness than through great leaders. Buhari has the qualities. And he has a date with destiny in the Nigerian presidency from 2015 – 2023. May God give him the right vision and guide him,” he said.

Odimegwu was a member of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He was one of the prominent Nigerians that supported the alleged third agenda of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He was appointed the chairman of National Population Commission by Jonathan in 2012. He, however, left the position in 2014 in controversial circumstances after he made comments considered critical of a section of the country.
