The nationwide protest scheduled for August 1-10, 2024, serves as a clarion call for all Nigerians to demand good governance and accountability from our leaders.

For the people of Ondo State, this protest is a prelude to the ballot revolution that will shape the future of our state in the November 16th governorship election.

We stand in solidarity with all Nigerians demanding an end to economic hardship, hunger, hyperinflation, corruption, greed, and mismanagement of resources that have plagued our nation, and particularly Ondo State.

In Ondo State, our challenges have worsened, necessitating this nationwide protest. Despite our state’s rich endowments, our people suffer due to poor governance, widespread hunger, insecurity, inadequate infrastructure, and unemployment.

The Young Progressives Party, the hope of Ondo State in the upcoming governorship election, believes that electing good leaders significantly reduces the need for incessant protests, as witnessed in recent administrations. As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Similarly, we believe informed voting is our most powerful tool for change.

Our candidate, John Akinmurele, while addressing pressmen in Akure, appealed to security agencies to provide adequate protection for the protesters. He also warned against any unlawful or criminal exploitation by unscrupulous elements during the protest. No vandalism, no intimidation, and no disruption of lawful activities.

The ballot revolution is coming, and we must be prepared to use our votes to bring about the change we desire. Join us in this protest and let us march towards a brighter future for Ondo State and Nigeria.
