Real Madrid footballer Karim Benzema has been arrested over alleged sex-tape blackmail, according to French legal sources.
The French striker was reportedly arrested by police on Wednesday morning.
He is allegedly accused of blackmail relating to a sex-tape featuring fellow player Mathieu Valbuena.
A prosecutor in Versailles, near Paris, has reportedly placed Benzema under formal criminal investigation.
He is the second French player to be held by police, after former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse was arrested and later released last month over the alleged blackmail plot.
Benzema, who is currently out injured for Real Madrid, could be included in the latest France squad. Valbuena could also be included.
