The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Saturday, reappointed Kingsley Ehigiamusoe as his Chief of Staff.

Shaibu also approved the reappointment of Musa Ebomhiana as Chief Press Secretary. He also made seven other appointments.

In a statement issued by his CPS, Shaibu said the reappointments were with immediate effect.

However, the Edo State Government had maintained that a stay of execution in the suit had been filed at the upper court.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Government faulted the purported appointments and declared it as fake.

In a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Chris Nehikhare, the state government said Shaibu’s actions were provocative.

Nehikhare urged the public to disregard the purported appointments, adding that Shaibu was out to cause a crisis in the state.

The Commissioner stated, “It is clear that the impeached deputy governor is hell-bent on creating chaos in the State, but the Edo State Government is resolved to put his antics in check and ensure that the state continues to run smoothly.

“We restate that Marvellous Omobayo remains the Deputy Governor of Edo State and the public is enjoined to disregard the shenanigans orchestrated by Shaibu.

“The government, once again, calls on citizens to be rest assured that we will maintain peace and order as we charge them to go about their lawful businesses.”

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday voided the impeachment of Shaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State.

The Edo State House of Assembly had in April 2024 impeached the embattled state deputy governor.

Shaibu’s impeachment came after the state Chief Judge’s investigative panel, comprising seven members, submitted its report, which was subsequently adopted, confirming allegations of misconduct.
