A member of the House of Representatives representing Oye/Ikole Federal Constituency in Ekiti state, Hon. Kehinde Agboola, has enjoined his colleagues not to sacrifice national peace for individual ambition under the guise of party discipline.
He made the appeal while reacting to the lingering crisis in the Lower Chamber occasioned by the recently conducted elections which produced Hon. Yakubu Dogara as Speaker and Hon Yusuf Lasun as Deputy Speaker.

Agboola, a former Chairman of Ikole Local Government and a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker, posited that election or nomination of Principal Officers of the House of Representatives rest solely on the legislators and not the party.
He therefore, called on the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to put its house in order by respecting the principle of Federal Character in the distribution of offices.
Hon. Agboola also opined that since the North East and South West have produced the Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively, the other four zones should also be allowed to produce other officers- House Leader, Deputy Leader, Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip.
“We should not sacrifice national peace for individual ambition under the disguise of party discipline. It is purely Legislators business and not of party as such. The legal aspect should also be resolved.
“The APC members in the House should stop embarrassing those of us in the Minority party, PDP,” Hon. Agboola said.
He however, called on Nigerians to hold APC responsible for the lingering crisis.
