The Nigerian Bar Association has issued a 30-day ultimatum to the country’s security agencies to release a report on investigations into attacks on two courts in Rivers State.

The NBA issued the ultimatum while reacting to reports of a bomb explosion at the Ahoada High Court, as well as an alleged case of arson at the courtroom of the Okehi High Court.

NBA President, Okey Wali, SAN, gave the ultimatum in a press statement, which was forwarded to the National Security Adviser, the Inspector General of Police and President Goodluck Jonathan.

Insisting that attacks on the country’s courts will not be swept under the carpet, the NBA said the security agencies must get to the root of the attacks and bring those responsible to book.

“We demand an immediate and thorough investigation and expect a report, even if interim, within thirty days of the date of the incidents.

“The NBA calls on the National Security Adviser and the Inspector General of Police to employ all security apparatus at their disposal, to unearth the culprits and bring them to Justice.

“The NBA will not and cannot, be satisfied with the usual mantra of, “the Police investigation is continuing”,” Wali said in the statement.
