Rivers Police rescues two kidnapped victims, recovers AK 47 rifle

The Rivers State Police Command on Wednesday rescued two kidnapped victims namely Jackson Sunday and Mary Monday.

The rescue operation conducted in two separate coordinated operations by tactical unit of the Command, according to Ahmad Muhammad, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, occurred at the notorious Ogbakiri water fronts in the state.

The victims were kidnapped on different days at Rumuodara and Rumuigbo respectively in Port Harcourt.

According to Muhammad, on storming the hideout, the “suspected kidnappers found guarding the victims engaged our men in gun duel. Three unidentified suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded while the victims rescued unhurt.

“One AK 47 rifle, one locally made pistols, twenty rounds of ammunition, charms and a Nissan jeep belonging to Jackson Sunday were recovered from the kidnappers’ den,” the statement said.

The Command enjoins the people of Rivers State to continue to have trust in the ability of the police to tackle any security challenge and all times be security conscious.
