Senator Magnus Abe, the All Progressives Congress (APC)candidate in the Rivers South East Senatorial District re-run election has predicted that the APC will sweep the State and National Assembly re-run elections.
Speaking at a Town Hall meeting held in Gokana Local Government Area, where PDP top notchers decamped to APC, Senator Abe said that Rivers people are aware of the issues in the elections and would vote in support of APC.
He said that Governor Nyesome Wike had previously advised Rivers people before the 2015 general elections to ensure that they align with the centre by voting for the ruling party pointing out numerous advantages of such.
The former Secretary to the State Government said that the advice is still fresh in the memory of Rivers people and assured that the APC led Federal Government was in the verge of creating jobs and that the construction of railway from Calabar to Lagos would employ thousands of workers.
He further stated that thousands of teachers would also be employed while, NDDC and other parastatals had also come up with their programmes to empower the people.
Senator Abe said that in this plethora of job opportunities that Rivers people would not be left behind.
He noted that what happened in the past election was the use of intimidation and violence by PDP of which they are at present threatening.
He stated that APC had no regret not using violence adding that that which he would not ask his son to do, he would not implore another person’s son to do it.
He said that what he could do for his son is to give him good education and that is why he is offering scholarship to the people of the District so that the youths would have sound education.
Senator Abe further said that the state chapter of APC had reported the threats of violence against APC supporters to APC national headquarters.
“Governor Nyesom Wike went to the Church to go and thank God for his victory but he ended up praising himself describing himself as a lion. And he said that he will defeat all of us who are contesting election on the platform of APC.
“I want to stand here and answer him that he will never defeat us. Because we refuse to buy guns and arm our children does not mean we don’t know what we are doing”.
Earlier, the decampees stated that the calibre of persons representing the district was important and an issue in the election pointing out that Senator Abe has the quality to adequately and effectively represent the district.
Among the decampees were. Hon. Suage Badey, former House of Representatives aspirant, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganago, Former PDP leader, Eric Nasi, PDP LGA Treasurer, Hon. Lemea Nyoyor,former Councillor, Baridi Beakoo, PDP PRO Ward 11 and Mr. Lebari Giayetor, Chairman, Elders Council, PDP, Barako, Gokana LGA.
