Sen. Babajide Omoworare representing Osun East Senatorial District in the Senate has declared his intention to contest in the Sept. 22 governorship election in the state.
Omoworare, who made the declaration at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat on Wednesday in Osogbo, said he was capable of governing the state with his political experience.
The lawmaker said he would perform creditably if given the opportunity to govern the state and promised to give priority to security, health and education if elected the governor of the state.
Omoworare said all the requirements in terms of education and exposure had made him the best choice to get the party’s ticket.
He promised to make judicious use of the available resources in the state with less dependence on federal allocation.
The two-term senator said he would increase internal revenue without inflicting hardships on the people of the state if elected.
Omoworare also said he would repackage festivals such as Osun Osogbo, Olojo of Ile-Ife and Iwude-Ijesa of Ilesa to attract foreign investors.
In his remarks, Gboyega Famodun, the APC state Chairman, said the party would give all the aspirants a level playing ground during the primary.
Famodun commended Omoworare for coming out to declare his intention for the governorship position.
Twenty-eight aspirants on the platform of APC had so far expressed their intention to contest the party’s primary.
The party had fixed July 7 for its primary.
