The senate has resumed the screening of President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial nominees, with just two names left.

On Saturday, the senate screened five nominees, including Lola John (Lagos), Ishak Salako (Ogun), Bosun Tijani (Ogun), Uba Ahmadu (Taraba), and Tahir Mamman (Adamawa).

The upper legislative chamber had screened 46 out of 48 nominees sent by the president by weekend.

As of the time of filing this story, Mariya Mahmoud, who replaced Maryam Shetty, was being screened.

Festus Keyamo, former minister of state for labour and employment, is next. Keyamo made a late entry into the list last week.

After the screening, the senate will proceed to confirm the nominees. It is unclear, as of the time of filing this, if the confirmation hearing would take place today.

Barring a surprise of epic proportions, all of the president’s nominees are expected to be confirmed as ministers of the federal republic of Nigeria.
