A mild drama ensued on Wednesday at the sitting of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition commenced investigative hearing into an alleged diversion of N1 trillion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC), as the anti-graft agency’s lawyers were walked out by the chairman, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

The six lawyers including Osuagwu Ugochukwu, the personal ‎lawyer to the EFCC chairman, were led by Chile Okoroma. Okoroma.

The committee members appeared to be infuriated by a letter sent by the EFCC seeking the postponement of the gathering to enable the commission collects the auditor report from KPMG auditing firm.

Apparently not satisfied with the request, the Committee chairman, Senator Anyawu walked out the lawyers, fuming that the commission had earlier written to the committee expressing readiness to appear as scheduled.

Anyanwu’s action came when Okoroma made frantic efforts to respond to the petitioner, George Uboh who had alleged that Lamorde under remitted the money he recovered from some Nigerians as well as traded with the money.

Speaking with journalists later, Okoroma‎ expressed displeasure over the decision of the committee not to grant him audience even when the Petitioner, George Uboh was allowed to make presentation.
