Stakeholders hold seminar on Diaspora policy in Abuja

Stakeholders in matters relating to the Diaspora will on Thursday converge in Abuja to participate in one-day validation seminar on the proposed National policy on Diaspora matters for Nigeria.

A statement by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Special Assistant on Media to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora stated that the seminar will hold at Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.

Dubbed “Multi-Stakeholder Validation Seminar on the Draft National Policy on Diaspora Matters”, is expected to attract major stakeholders in the Diaspora formulation policy.

The principal objective of the Policy is to effectively leverage on the resources and technical knowledge of Nigerians in the Diaspora to contribute effectively to national development.’’

The one-day multi-stakeholder Seminar is expected to deliberate actively and validate the draft policy document.

The seminar will also provide scope for Nigeria’s engagement with its Diaspora, taking into account the internal dynamics of the country as well as the external dynamics of its Diaspora.

This is the first time Nigeria will be having a national policy document for her citizens in the Diaspora.
