Three COVID-19 patients have been discharged in Ogun state? The state government disclosed the recoveries in a tweet on Thursday.
According to the tweet, Tomi Coker, the state commissioner for health, spoke on the latest recoveries at the COVID-19 situation room of the ministry of health.
She also said the ministry has been able to trace about 210 contacts of the COVID-19 patients, and that 110 of them have been discharged.
Lagos, Bauchi, Kwara and the federal capital territory (FCT) had discharged patients earlier on Thursday.
Ogun state has recorded nine confirmed COVID-19 cases, with six patients discharged. Also, 100 contacts traced to the confirmed patients are still being monitored by the state ministry of health.
As part of efforts to improve its testing capacity for coronavirus, a molecular laboratory has been installed in the state.
“As earlier announced by the governor, the first state fully funded molecular laboratory has been installed and we are waiting for NCDC to accredit this, so that we could scale up testing capacity,” Coker said.
“Aside that, we are taking possession of another molecular laboratory next week, which will increase our capacity to a thousand a day.
“Additionally, there will be testing booths installed in our high-risk vulnerable communities which border Lagos and we will encourage people to come forward and get tested, especially during this lockdown.”
Ogun is currently under a federal lockdown directive issued by President Muhammadu Buhari, as part of efforts to reduce the spread of the virus.
The lockdown has been extended till April 27, 2020.
Lagos, which shares a border with Ogun, currently has the highest number of cases with 232 patients.
Across 19 states, a total of 407 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the country.
