President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences over the passing of a former governor of Yobe State, Bukar Ibrahim.

The President offered his condolences in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngalale, on Sunday.

Ibrahim, the former governor of Yobe State from May 1999 to May 2007, died at 73 on Sunday in Saudi Arabia following a prolonged illness.

The statement read, “President Bola Tinubu has received the news of the passing of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, former governor of Yobe State and Senator representing Yobe East, with immense grief.

“On behalf of the Federal Government, the President extends his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the family, friends, and associates of the late Senator and the government and people of Yobe State.”

The President described Ibrahim as a personal friend and a consummate leader who served the people of Yobe with dedication during his extensive political career.

”As a senator for 12 years, his wealth of experience was a guiding force in the National Assembly. Generations to come will remember him for always placing the progress and welfare of the people at the heart of his service.

“President Tinubu prays that Almighty God grant the departed statesman eternal rest.”

Meanwhile, former President Muhammadu Buhari, also sent his message of condolence over death of (Abba Ibrahim), a founding member of the All Progressives Congress, a former Senator who was the first civilian governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Bukar Abba Ibrahim.

Buhari’s words “I am deeply saddened by the demise of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim. I convey my deepest condolences to the family he left behind and the government and people of Yobe State.

“With his death, I have lost a friend whom I knew for decades, a political associate who shared my views on many issues. His insights and nuanced understanding of the people governed had no parallels. May Allah forgive his shortcomings,” said the former President.
