President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday met with Abdullahi Adamu, former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Iyiola Omisore, the party’s former national secretary, at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Both men, who arrived together for the meeting, were seen exiting after the session at about 1.30pm.

Adamu and Omisore were said to have quit their roles a week ago, following a meeting of the APC national working committee (NWC).

NewMailNG had reported how Adamu’s failure to account for over N30 billion from the sale of nomination forms, became the “last straw” that led to his ouster.

Omisore had also been accused of mismanaging funds meant for campaigns in Osun state.

The resignations of both men fuelled reports of upheaval within the party. However, the APC dismissed the insinuations as speculative.

Abubakar Kyari has since assumed office as acting chairman and Festus Fuanter as the acting national secretary.

While Abdullahi Ganduje, former governor of Kano, has been mentioned as Tinubu’s preferred candidate for the national chairmanship position, Gboyega Oyetola, former governor of Osun, and Ajibola Basiru, former spokesperson of the senate, have been reported to be in the running for the national secretary office.

Adamu had earlier indicated that he would consult with Tinubu before commenting on his alleged resignation.

As at the time of filing this report, there has been no official communication regarding the visit.
