President Bola Tinubu has sent the list of the second batch of ministerial nominees to the senate for screening.

Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to the president, submitted the letter containing the names of the nominees to Godswill Akpabio, senate president, on Wednesday.

As of the time of filing this report, Akpabio is yet to read the letter.

On July 27, Tinubu forwarded a list of 28 nominees to the senate for screening and confirmation.

The president’s request was contained in a letter read by Akpabio on the floor of the upper legislative chamber.

Akpabio, after receiving the list, referred the president’s request to a committee.

On Monday, the red chamber began screening of the first batch of ministerial nominees.

Nyesom Wike, former governor of Rivers; David Umahi, senate deputy majority leader and Dele Alake are among those who have been screened so far.

Meanwhile, Akpabio is expected to read the letter containing the second batch of the ministerial nominees after the senate reverts to plenary from the “committee of whole”.

Ministerial nominees are screened by the committee of the whole chaired by the senate president.
