Former President Shehu Shagari Special Adviser , Tanko Yakassai, said the resignation of Bamanga Tukur, as the Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman would restore peace to the party.
Yakassai said that he would have advised Tukur to quit as PDP chairman if he was in a position to do so.
“With the crisis going on in the PDP, I would have advised him to resign. I would have advised him long ago. It is unrealistic for him to be chairman while the party is in serious crisis,’’ he said.
He said those that defected from the PDP to other political parties faulted Tukur’s leadership style as the main reason for their defection.
He said he hoped that his resignation would make those that had defected to other political parties return to the PDP.
