A student of the University of Ibadan Covenant Odedele has emerged the youngest Nigerian winner of the prestigious 2023 Princess Diana Award.
Odedele, a student journalist and sophomore medical student of the College of Medicine UI, was recognised with 188 other young visionaries and leaders from 31 countries across the world.
The award, according to the organisers, is established in memory of the Princess of Wales, Diana and given out by the charity of the same name to young persons for their remarkable humanitarian actions.
The award has the support of Princess Diana’s sons, His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Sussex.
Odedele won the award for his positive social actions and his work with the social enterprise.
He founded Students on LinkedIn two years ago, to bridge the knowledge gap about LinkedIn.
Odedele provides resources on professional networking, employability readiness and LinkedIn optimisation for university students.
The highly elated Odedele described it as a surreal moment for him.
He said: “It feels good to be recognised for good work; putting Nigeria on the global stage.
“And if there is anything to be proud of, it’s the fact that my leadership has inspired my peers to take responsibility for societal challenges in their campus communities.
“I’m also glad that one of my visions for campus communities in Nigeria got global recognition. All glory to God!”
