The 18th edition of annual public lecture/luncheon of Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA) Lagos Chapter slated for Sunday April 15, is geared towards encouraging participation of Muslim professionals in Agriculture.
In a statement by Saheed Bashiru, the Chairman 2018 Organising Committee, said the theme “Nigeria Agricultural Revolution: Opportunities and Options for Muslim Professionals’’ was carefully chosen as a wealth creation through agriculture.
The event, which is holding at the Banquet Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos from 10am, will parade experts from various fields in the Agricultural sector.
Bashiru said the lecture will be chaired by the Group Financial Officer, Honeywell Group, Alhaji Sikiru Rufai while Mezuo Nwuneli, the Managing Partner, Sahel Agric-Business Manager Ltd, will be the Guest Speaker.
Guest panelists include the Head of SME Funds, Bank of Industry, Michael Oye, MD/CEO, Starlink Global & Idea Limited, Alhaji Murthada Adeniji and Group CEO, Balls Bridge Limited, Alhaji Abdulganiy Olaitan Akano.
Speaking on the significance of the lecture, the chairman of Lagos chapter of UNIFEMGA, Taiwo Ayanboade stressed the need to diversify Nigeria’s economy from crude oil and encourage participation of Muslim professionals in agriculture.
He said it is expected that wealth creation could be created through agriculture as well as other alternative sources of income for Muslim professionals.
Ayanboade said the aim of the lecture was also to sensitise its members and members of the public on important issues and areas that are beneficial to their needs and the society at large.
Expected to grace the lecture are over 200 participants from different industries and business interests as the organisers believe it will create a good learning experience and networking platform for the attendees.
