Curfew imposed on Maiduguri as soldiers roll out fighter jets to repel B’ Haram

A curfew has been imposed on Maiduguri, Borno State capital, following an early Sunday morning attempt by the deadly Boko Haram terrorists to overrun the town.

New Mail had in its earlier report stated that the state again came under heavy under attack by the Boko Haram insurgents since Sunday morning.

There have been heavy shooting in parts of Maiduguri with some residents running out of their houses.

Although the military has sent an alert urging residents not to panic, residents who spoke with our correspondent says “the situation is very critical and we are not sure of our safety.”

The Nigerian troops are currently repelling attacks by terrorists around Maiduguri and Mongunu, Borno State. The Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has tweeted an update on ongoing operation around Maiduguri and Mongunu.

It states “Troops are repelling a simultaneous attack on Monguno and Maiduguri by Terrorists.”

It added that “Coordinated Air and Land OPs being conducted now.”
